Frequently Asked Questions
Since announcing "A Needle and
Me" I've been receiving many questions. Hopefully this will answer most
of them:
Q: Can I purchase the book at my local shop?
A: At this time, no. This is an e-book and only available through my
web site. I don't have any plans of making the book commercially available in
printed form.
Q: Can I have a friend print the chapters for me?
A: Yes, providing your friend is also subscribed to the e-book. Just
like a needlepoint design, "A Needle and Me" is copyright protected
and cannot be copied. This also includes sharing access codes to the Library.
Q: Do we receive printed copies of each chapter?
A: No, you'll receive a binder and dividers and you can print each chapter
on your own printer. Or you may decide to download to your hard drive and/or
save to a disc.
Q: How many chapters will there be and what will be the costs?
A: I'm initially planning on 10 chapters, possible 15. This will depend
on how much information flows from this brain. For those people who are familiar
with my work, or have read the magazine articles, there is a lot of information
I would like to share.
The second installment will also include 5 chapters and another project. Since
you'll already have the binder, you'll save $5.00 plus shipping and another
$5.00 discount if you have participated in the first installment. This means
the second installment will be $35.00, and $30.00 if there is a third installment.
Q: You said there will be pictures, will I be able to see them?
A: Through the miracle of Laura (our web mistress), you will be able
to click on a photo for a larger version that can also be printed for your binder.
This will be very handy when I demonstrate different techniques or show examples
of the various techniques I plan on sharing.
Q: Will I miss a chapter if I go on vacation?
A: No, each chapter will remain posted in the library throughout the
class. Once all the chapters have been uploaded, they will remain for two additional
weeks.
You may also email me that you're going to be gone and I can suspend mailings
until after you return. This will not effect your ability to print the chapters.
Q: Is the mailing list an open discussion list?
A: No, all of the messages, comments and questions will come through
me and I will forward on to the participants those messages, or comments, that
pertain to the e-book. This way you'll not have to delete messages about someone's
vacation plans, etc.
Q: What is the deadline for subscribing to the e-book?
A: No, there is no deadline. We will begin uploading the first chapter
on October 21, 2002. As soon as I receive your registration form, I will email
you the password and ship your binder to you.
Q: Why should I do this?
A: Because there won't ever be another book quite like this one. Most
books focus on stitches or threads. This book will cover everything of importance
to a stitcher, even husband's comments in the form of short stories. When the
book is finished you will feel like you have a version of a Reader's Digest
for Stitchers. Educational, entertaining and an enjoyable read on nights when
the needle says "take a break".
Hopefully this answers most of your questions, but please feel free to email
me at David@dbydstudio.com. I look
forward to your participation!
