Painted Needlepoint Canvases

Miscellaneous

Western Images - The inspiration for Western Images was from a collage of memories during the five years I lived in Arizona. Even though the heat could sometimes be very intense, the sunsets were spectacular. This memory was interpreted into the background of this piece. Turquoise and silver jewelry could be found all over Arizona as well as Indian artifacts. Both were adapted for this piece, the skull was worked in shades of silver with a beaded Indian motif of a bird laid over the forehead. The hatchet and arrows framed the central image. Even though this was one of my earlier stitched pieces, it remains the one that gave me the most pleasure to stitch. I literally hated putting in the last stitch. It now hangs in my office and rain or shine, every day I see the sunset.

This ribbon and floral was designed as an interior accent piece. The traditional design incorporates ribbons and bows into a lattice design framing small clusters of flowers. It renders itself easily to color changes to suit your own interior. The finished piece measures 12 inches square and can be finished as a small accent pillow, inset into a mitered border for a larger pillow, foot stool cover or framed. If you like the comfort of Basketweave, this piece is perfect.
